What is Incept: New Student Orientation?
Incept: New Student Orientation is the official Georgia State University new undergraduate student orientation program. Incept is required for new freshman and strongly encouraged for new transfer students. Our programs are designed to introduce you to the unique world of Georgia State and prepare you to make the most of both your academic and co-curricular experiences.
We offer several Incept options which can meet your specific needs at a time that’s convenient to your schedule. We offer one-day and two-day orientation programs for new freshman students and one-day and ½ day orientation programs for new transfer students. There is also a special parent and guest orientation program which runs concurrently with all student programs.
Don’t just take our word for it! Read what students who’ve been to Incept have to say about their experience.
“At Incept, I was able to learn more about my University and understand the resources available, and develop the first of many new relationships with my new peers at Georgia State.” Hannah Grant, Class of 2016, Journalism
“I really enjoyed Incept because it made my acceptance to Georgia State real to me. Before I attended, I was excited and nervous about what to expect entering into a new chapter in my life. My Inceptor made me feel comfortable and confident in the decision I made to attend this University. All the questions I had were answered during the day. The whole thing made me feel welcome and it was a celebration for becoming a new Panther!” Kierra Nelson, Class of 2015, Chemistry
“At Incept, I was able to become familiar with faculty as well as my peers. I was uncomfortable with being a first generation college student. I was afraid of failing fast because I knew nothing about college. At Incept, I was reassured that almost all of my problems could be solved with the help of someone from the University.” Anthony Smith, Class of 2016, Kinesiology
